OK! Before we get to fast times @ McFadden’s a little tech talk.
Fast times last night were a bit slower than prior fast times – by almost a second.
Some might blame it on reduced neuron conduction rates due to the extreme cold we are suffering here in RI. Some may say that there is increased moisture in the air and that the increased friction slows everyone’s cadence. But we know that Matt Moritz, Race Commissar has been tweaking the software to better sync the sending units with the start timer. So, better synchronization means apparently longer race times. But that’s not all Matt has been up to. Last night, we employed start LED units on the stems. These provide the racers with visual START indication that works for those who prefer a head-down start position. Please make your comments about the START LEDs if you raced last night above.
So…to the times…
Overall
Evan M 21.481 sec.
June P 26.155 sec.
40-49 Years Old
Eric W 24.982 sec.
50+ Years Old
Tom H 23.994
Betty B 30.662
Evan M and June P will each receive 2 points to their point tally (out tomorrow) for being fastest in their category (“Youth”) and fastest overall. Betty, Eric and Tom will each receive a single bonus point for being fastest in their category.
I thought the slower times were attributable to the brutal head wind, but perhaps I was the only one who noticed.
Matt did a great job with the techie stuff and the rider instructions.
Think about sandbags to weight the roller frames which may reduce some of the flex and bounce during races.
MM
That’ll be my President’s Day mission: sandbagging!
Good thought, MM!
